Bold and Present: A condo kitchen gets revived!

BEFORE AFTER

Styles come and go, times change and kitchens must get updated. Such was the case for this condo kitchen. Once at the height of style with hand textured cabinet doors and white tile counter tops, by 2011 the glory had faded.  Aware of the need to update their kitchen’s look and function condo residents Paul Perchonock and Leah Gorovitz came to Paragon Kitchen & Bath Studio in search of ideas, information and assistance putting it all together.  From out initial conversation it was clear that the couple’s sense of style was rooted in tradition, but should be accented with a bold personality to match their own. A raised panel door with a stained and glazed finish from Showplace Wood Products brought these two characteristics together beautifully. The cabinet finish balances a neutral color with hand wrought detail for an extra visual punch.

susans kitchenNext was identifying counter top and bar materials that would enhance both the cabinet choice and the rich décor of the living room to which the kitchen opens into.  Keeping in mind that sense of tradition, we introduced the couple to quartz tops by Cambria. This line of quartz offers many stones with the veining and patterning of granite and marble, but has all the benefits of quartz including never having to be sealed. After trying out a variety of color options, the couple fell in love with Canterbury. With rich brown tones, a cream background and flecks of copper, this top is a beautiful way to make a statement.

To make this counter stand out even more, we paired it with a wood bar top in Walnut rather than continuing with the stone.  The finishing touches include oil rubbed bronze pulls and faucet with an updated double bowl sink and new appliances. And then there are all the things you don’t see, like the pull out accessory for the corner base cabinet, and the increased accessibility and storage space of the corner wall cabinet. All together these material choices produce a handsome and stately kitchen that draws from the past but is rooted in the present.

When you're ready to transform your kitchen, make an appointment with Paragon Kitchen & Bath Studio, 625 Trestle Glen Road, Tues-Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-3.
